Concern Regarding ZATCA Phase 2 QR Code Scanning Restrictions in New App Update
Dear ZATCA Team,
I would like to raise a concern regarding the recent update to the official ZATCA app related to QR code verification (Phase 2). Previously, anyone could scan and verify the QR code on an e-invoice using the official app, which greatly supported transparency and trust for both local and international buyers.
However, after the latest update, the app’s UI has changed, and now it requires user login credentials before allowing QR code scanning. This change introduces a major challenge, especially in the case of international buyers who are outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Key Concerns:
-
International buyers (especially in export scenarios) can no longer verify QR codes on their invoices.
-
No alternative or public tool exists to validate the authenticity of a QR code without a login.
-
This reduces trust and transparency in cross-border transactions & .Raises questions on compliance and validation mechanisms for global buyers.
Request:
Can the authority consider enabling:
-
Guest access or public QR verification feature in the app (without login)?
-
A web-based public QR code validation portal, accessible from anywhere globally?
This feature is critical for businesses involved in exports, global audits, and international compliance, where QR validation is a key part of due diligence.
Looking forward to your response and support in resolving this pressing issue.
