Issue Date Discrepancy

Query:- We provide design and supervision related services by entering into contracts with our customers in KSA. These services are continuous in nature and we generally issue invoices during the 1st week of the following month for services provided in the prior month. We book these invoices in the prior month itself in our ledger and pay vat within the first 30 days of the month.

Eg: Services performed for the month of September 2023 maybe booked within the 1st week of October 2023. So lets say the tax issue date would be 4th October 2023, however since the performance of service was for September we close our books of September within the 1st week of October 2023. We would go ahead and pay vat to the government in KSA on or before 30th October 2023.

My question here is in e-invoicing, now since our invoice would be dated 4th October 2023 and approved by Zatca real time on 4th October 2023, can we go ahead and still book the invoice in September 2023 and pay vat by 30th October 2023 or do we pay vat only on 30th November 2023 as issue date would be 4th October 2023. Consequently book our invoices in October 2023.

HI team,

Can we get the response on the same?

@Ritik XML will also contain Supply Start Date and Supply End Date. ZATCA will consider the VAT Due Date according to legal provisions duly considering Invoice issue date and supply dates from the XML.

@Ankit_Tiwari Thanks for the response.
