For each CSID, one ICV series is supposed to be maintained.

Under what circumstances is the ICV supposed to be reset?

Is there any maximum number for ICV for a CSID?

Each EGS should have its own sequence of Invoice Counter Value (ICV), the value/sequence of ICV may be repated on a seperate EGS units owned by the same taxpayer, but it will not be repated on the same EGS unit.

The ICV should always be unique for invoices generated from the same EGS. This means that you can’t submit an invoice with a used ICV before from the same EGS.

  1. There is no rule that the ICV must be reset in the same active EGS unit, by the way you shouldn’t, you have to make sure that all of the invoices which being genrated from each EGS has its own sequence of ICV, non-compliant will may result in penalties if found.
  2. There is no rule for the maximum number of ICV.

Q2. Under what circumstances is the ICV supposed to be reset? - Response: Upon revocation of CSID.

Q3. Is there any maximum number for ICV for a CSID? - Response: No there is no upper limit to ICV series.

When you mention ‘each CSID’ this means that every time a Revoke or Renew action happens the ICV needs to be reset. is that correct?

For example an EGS A gets onboarded and receives a CSID abc100. Then it starts creating ICV’s up to 10. Then it gets revoked and then the same EGS A get onboarded and receives a CSID xyz999. At this point it should restart from ICV = 1 and NOT continue from ICV =11, correct?

@leonidas.s yes every time CSID is revoked or renewed, Invoice Counter Value (ICV) should start from 1 again on the new CSID.

@Ankit_Tiwari please confirm if we need ro reset the ICV for a CSID even in the case of a renewal. Earlier response from you in this chain on May 9th mentions only in the case of Revocation, the ICV needs to be reset. Kindly confirm the applicability to reset ICV for renewal of csid as well.
