Inquiry Regarding Implementation of the New Saudi Riyal Currency Symbol in E-Invoicing

Dear ZATCA E-Invoicing Support,

I hope this message finds you well.

Following the official announcement regarding the introduction of the new Saudi Riyal currency symbol, we would like to clarify how this change should be reflected in the context of electronic invoicing.

https://www.sama.gov.sa/en-US/Currency/SRS/Pages/default.aspx

Could you please confirm whether entities are required to start using the new symbol immediately in e-invoices? Or should we expect further guidance or updated technical specifications to be published on ZATCA’s official channels before making any changes?

We would appreciate any clarification on the expected implementation timeline and requirements, so we can ensure correct and compliant integration within our invoicing systems.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to your guidance.

Dear @prakash.sathyamurthy,
New Saudi Riyal Symbol can be displayed in the human readable form instead of the currency code SAR. However, inside XML, it must be only the currency code and not the symbol.

You will have to follow the guidelines issued by SAMA regarding appearance of symbol on human readable form.
